[COLOR=blue]Heard the news that she’s expecting, a baby in late spring,
Tried my best to look happy and not show my suffering.
Don’t want her to feel funny, and put a wall between
Two friends then become distance, for myself this I have seen.

Got the shower invitation in the mail today,
Thinking of some fresh excuses that I have to do that day.
Didn’t used to be this bad, but lately it’s so hard
Wish I just could send a gift, along with a nice card.

Heard the phone ring half past six, knew who it would be
She was going into labor, and wanted him to now phone me.
Wipe a tear and put my clothes on, hurry out the door
For I know from where that tear came, there will certainly be more.

Getting close it won’t be long now, baby’s coming soon
Hope that she will understand, why I now must leave the room.
On bended knee I pray to God to help me to get through,
As in the past, He always has, I know He will now too.
